FDA – “Spirulina is Generally Recognized As Safe. (GRAS) Under sections 201(s) and 409 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act .

In July 2014, the FDA approved for use in a wider range of products, including frostings, ice cream and frozen desserts, dessert coatings and toppings, beverage mixes and powders, yogurts, custards, puddings, cottage cheese, gelatin, breadcrumbs, and ready-to-eat cereals.
